Treat sore muscles to a DIY cocoa-mint massage bar!

May 8th, 2019 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

Instructions

1. Add beeswax and cocoa butter to a double boiler over medium-low heat until melted. Be careful not to overheat or melt too quickly. Low and slow is best.

2. Once beeswax and cocoa butter are melted, turn off the heat and add sweet almond oil and coconut oil.

3. Add cocoa powder and mix well until fully incorporated with no clumps.

4. Pour the mixture into a mold of your choosing. Let cool for 5 minutes.

5. Add essential oils: 5 drops Peppermint, 5 drops Spearmint, 3 drops Cinnamon Bark, and 3 drops Copaiba to each massage bar. Mix in with a toothpick.

YL tip: Wait until the cocoa butter and beeswax mixture is slightly cooled before adding the essential oils. This keeps the temperature more consistent, which helps the oils blend well and do their job.

6. Let everything cool completely in the fridge before popping the massage bars out of the mold.

7. Store in a sealed container at room temperature; keep away from extreme heat to prevent the bars from melting.

8 Neroli self-care tips you’ve got to try

Apr 22nd, 2019 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

Where does Neroli oil come from?

Neroli oil comes from the bitter orange tree, Citrus aurantium amara. The oil is steam-distilled from the delicate orange blossoms, which need to be handled with great care to avoid crushing the petals.

Fun fact: Petitgrain essential oil comes from the leaves and twigs of the bitter orange tree.

Is Neroli oil a citrus or a floral?

Is it citrus? Is it floral? What does Neroli smell like, anyway? The complex aroma of Neroli essential oil may leave you puzzling over how to categorize it. Because the oil comes from the flowers of an orange tree, it has both citrus and floral notes. However, unlike Orange essential oil or other citrus oils, it is not photosensitive—so you can still get some sun and work on a tan after applying it.

Making sense of scents: Do essential oils really work?

Apr 15th, 2019 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

First constituents and now receptors—we’re getting a little Bill Nye, but we promise it’s worth it. Understanding how essential oils interact with your body is empowering!

Without receptors, you wouldn’t sense those super-cooling powers. Receptors are proteins that specifically bind with different types of molecules to facilitate chemical communication within our bodies. You have millions of receptors on your body, but we want to focus on your sensory and thermoreceptors, because they’re the ones involved in touch, taste, and smell.

When compounds in essential oils bind to receptors, they trigger specific effects in our bodies depending on the oil’s constituents and how you’ve applied it—topically, aromatically, or internally. Our infographic is a great way to learn more about receptors and where to apply essential oils on your body.
