So what can these free essential oils do for your holiday festivities?
We love Ginger essential oil as a substitute for powdered ginger in recipes. As a general rule, you can use 1 drop for every teaspoon of powdered or grated ginger. Check out this fun, easy recipe for gingerbread people that the kids will love decorating with icing, candies, and sprinkles:
Gingerbread People
3 cups flour of your choice (may substitute Gary’s True Grit Einkorn Pancake and Waffle Mix)
1 tsp. baking soda
¼ tsp. fine sea salt
1 drop Cinnamon Bark essential oil
¾ cup butter or coconut oil
¾ cup firmly packed brown or coconut sugar
½ cup molasses
1 egg or vegan egg substitute
1 tsp. vanilla extract
In a medium bowl, whisk together dry ingredients; set aside.
In a larger bowl, beat together butter or coconut oil and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in remaining wet ingredients. Gradually add flour mixture just until dough forms; do not over mix. Press dough into a flat disk, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight or at least for 4 hours.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Roll dough to ¼ inch thick on a clean and lightly floured countertop. Use cookie cutters to cut out desired shapes. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 8–10 minutes or until edges are just beginning to brown. Cool completely, then decorate as desired!
While you and your family are making essential oil-infused gingerbread people, and through the whole season, diffuse Christmas Spirit essential oil blend. It combines everyone’s favorite scents of the season—Cinnamon Bark, Orange, and Spruce—for an irresistibly festive environment. You can even try dropping it onto unscented potpourri and packaging it in bags with colorful ribbons for a beautiful, memorable neighbor gift. They’ll love that it’s both thoughtful and guilt-free!
